God helps those who help themselves

“God helps those who help themselves” – a wise and good quote that everyone knows is from the Bible. 

But, in fact, it isn’t. 

It was a man, not a god who coined the well known (and overused) proverb. 

It was Benjamin Franklin in his Poor Richard’s almanac.
