Study has linked Diet Soda with depression

A survey of 263,900 adults were asked to answer questions about their beverage consumption in 1995 and 1996.

10 years later they were asked if they had been diagnosed with depression since the year 2000.

People who consumed 4 or more cans per day of any type of soda were 30% more likely to be diagnosed with depression.

If you break it down by regular vs. diet it was 31% for dieters and 22% for regular soda drinkers. Diet fruit drinkers also saw an increased risk: 51%.

Those who drank coffee were 10% LESS likely to have been diagnosed with depression.
