Heterochromia iridium

Heterochromia iridium is a difference in coloration of the iris caused by relative excess or lack of melanin (a pigment).

There are two basic types of the condition – complete heterochromia (one iris is completely different color from the other) and partial heterochromia or sectoral heterochromia, (part of one iris is a different color from its remainder).

There are no exact statistics referring to the incidence of this bizarre condition but it is safe to say that less than 1% of people have it.

It is a very rare condition but still there are millions of people in the world who have it, including some of the well-known celebrities.
