Because a fifth-grade student in New Jersey accidentally dropped water on the floor, a vice principal of his school forced him and fourteen other students to eat off of the floor.
All this while the other students taunted them.
Their teacher was fired after she encouraged students to tell their parents what was going on; she was given a settlement of $75,000.
Fortunately, seven of the children also filed a lawsuit and won. The vice principal transferred to another school.
